AI Driven Wheelchair

RV Automation Technology (RV) develops people centric robotic applications and systems in healthcare, smart city, logistics and education sectors. The Auto Chair, is an AI-driven mobility vehicle designed for public spaces, specifically for the Hong Kong International Airport.

Once passengers are comfortably seated, they can easily input their flight details and boarding gate number via the touch screen, and the vehicle will automatically navigate them to their destination—enhancing convenience and efficiency.

The Auto Chair operates through sophisticated AI technology integrated into its system. A detailed floor plan of the environment is mapped and combined with lidar and proximity sensors to ensure safe navigation. The system continuously adapts and refines its algorithm, enabling smoother and more efficient travel in the future.

Role FPI

The purpose of the Auto Chair was to serve as a concept vehicle, showcasing the future possibilities of RV’s Agnostics Robotic Control System (ARCS), powered by Microsoft Azure cloud technology. This innovative project acted as a “concept car” for RV, demonstrating the potential of their advanced robotics technology in mobility solutions.

In collaboration with RV’s engineering team, FPI played a key role in the component structure and detailing the plastic parts of the Auto Chair. FPI is also responsible for producing the showcase model used at the airport. This includes the metal chassis, plastic parts, and soft goods cushioning, turning the vision of the Auto Chair into reality.

The project not only highlighted the capabilities of RV’s control system but also paved the way for future advancements in AI-driven mobility.
